However what brought me here today is MOST unusual. This very castle/ family is mentioned in a book about Egypt. The reason I decided to look further into the castle is because once the government "illegally" seized it in 1947, they also burned the castle VAST library of priceless old books, stating it was decadent bourgeois literature. Now we all know once "they" start burning books there must have been something there. We can only guess what they were trying to cover-up. I didn’t see the program,The Scariest Places on Earth, wish I had thou.

I traveled thru the defunct iron production facility and thought I was on the wrong road. I was late for entrance, but they let me in anyway. This was truly the highlight of my trip thru Romania. I will never forget the mother-daughter team in the print shop. Certainly the epitomy of elegance. Nothing scary about this place. Had I found accomodations I would have stayed another day. I was born in Hunedoara and I used to play around the castle all the time.Seeing that the Hunedoara Castle is on top ten scariest place is absolutely ridiculous.It is worth visiting the castle though.
